If you let a property or rooms to paying guests, the Fire Safety Order applies, even if it's a small cottage, a flat or part of your own home. As the owner or operator, you're the responsible person and must have a written fire risk assessment.

Guests don't know your property

Guests are sleeping in an unfamiliar building and may not know the way out in the dark. Good detection, a clear escape route and simple fire safety information for guests are essential.

Following the government guidance
